In order to carry a firearm on duty as a security officer, you must be Armed Guard Licensed. This class is taught by Glen Williams, a state certified guard license teacher. Attending this class is the first step to obtaining your Utah Armed Guard License. In order to obtain your armed license, you must already have your unarmed license, or have recently attended an unarmed guard license class. Here you will learn about how to handle your firearm as security guard as well as relevant Utah state laws as they apply to your position. You will need to bring your own ammo and firearm.
Make sure this is the class you want. There are NO REFUNDS for missing the class. You may not reschedule.

Class fees:
APS Employees: $100.00
Non-APS Employee: $135.00
Shooting Range: $10.00

You Must Bring:
Valid photo ID,
your own ammunition
(at least 200 rounds),
your own firearm,

a level two holster that is manufactured for your specific make and model of firearm,
a magazine pouch,
eye and ear protection

Please be aware that classes can be cancelled due to lack of participants,
or applicants maybe moved to future classes if class size limits are exceeded.
